The Life, Old Age and Death of a working - Class Woman
A hymn to the unseen members of the working class and, at the same time, a hymn to the mother, The Life, Old Age and Death of a Working-Class Woman by French philosopher and sociologist Didier Eribon begins from autobiography and is dedicated to his mother.
The work portrays a working-class woman, bringing her difficulties, dreams, and disappointments to the foreground. The personal becomes political, while old age and the rights of elderly women lie at the core of the narrative.
Sofia Antoniou brings the book to the stage. The performance follows the protagonist’s memories, revived through a chorus of older actors moving within an associative, poetic space. The direction balances realism and dream, creating a living space of memory.
